You used to have a Tuesday. Practice, or a cousin, or a desk by the window. Now Tuesday is whether they reply. You cancel a friend and call it loyalty. You can like someone and still keep a life that fits you. The liking is a room. It is not the whole house.
If you are in danger now, contact local emergency services first. Get to a safer place if you can. Tell a trusted adult. Do not meet someone alone to sort it out. When you can do so safely, see help resources.
What this is
Not losing yourself means your friends, your work, your sleep, and your own pace still exist. You can be glad when they message. You can also leave the phone in a bag during class. You can say you are busy. You can have a joke that is not about them. A good liking makes your week larger. It does not ask you to become smaller so the feeling can stay.
Watch the direction. Do you still know what you think when they are not there? Do you still see the friend who knew you first? If the answer is sliding towards no, you have not failed. You have a fact to act on.
What this is not
This is not a rule that you must act uninterested. You are allowed to care. It is not selfish to keep a practice or a homework block. It is not true that if you shrink enough, they will stay. People who need you to drop your life are not offering closeness. They are offering a smaller world.
If they punish you for seeing a friend, or if you are afraid to keep your own plan, that is control, not a busy romance. Do not explain your way back into the smaller life. Tell a trusted adult. If you are in danger, contact local emergency services. See help resources when you can do so safely.
What you can do
Keep one thing that was yours before the liking, and do not put it up for a vote.
A line worth passing on
You can like someone and still keep your friends, your work, and your own pace.
