What does it mean to stop trying?
This entry describes stopping trying as the point at which one or both people no longer spend effort on repair, talks, or the daily work of the couple. It notes that the stop can be named or only felt, and that exhaustion after a real effort is not the same as never having asked for a change.
What this entry does not do
It does not say a person must keep trying, and it does not replace the entry on when to see a couples therapist.
