What is sarcasm as a jab?
This entry describes sarcasm as a jab when a joke carries a complaint or a contempt the speaker will not say in plain words. It notes that the listener is then left to laugh or to look humorless, and that a real joke both people enjoy is not the same act.
What this entry does not do
It does not replace the entry on noticing contempt, and it does not forbid humor between spouses.
