What is a long-distance relationship?
This entry describes a long-distance relationship, including a long-distance marriage, as one in which the two people do not share a daily household because work, study, or family keeps them in different places. It lists the ordinary strains: time zones, travel cost, who visits whom, and news of the day that is told rather than seen.
What this entry does not do
It does not say how often a couple must visit or decide whether a given couple should remain apart.
