What is defensiveness?
This entry describes defensiveness as the move that answers a complaint with an excuse, a countercharge, or a claim of innocence, so the original point is never taken up. It treats the move as understandable self-protection that still leaves the speaker unheard.
What this entry does not do
It does not say a person must accept every charge, and it does not replace the entry on stonewalling.
