What is the difference between couple friends and individual friends?
This entry describes couple friends and individual friends as two kinds of company: people the pair sees together, and people one spouse keeps from before or beside the marriage. It notes that both can be ordinary, and that the trouble starts when one kind is treated as a threat or as the only allowed life.
What this entry does not do
It does not replace the entries on friendship after marriage or on friends of the opposite sex, and it does not say a spouse must share every friend.
