What is avoidant attachment?
This entry describes avoidant attachment as a pattern of stepping back when closeness or need increases: fewer replies, a preference for self-reliance, and discomfort when a partner asks for more contact. It separates that habit from a settled wish for ordinary privacy.
What this entry does not do
It does not diagnose a person or treat distance as proof that love is absent.
